Police set up a task force for siren and spy number plates in Enugu
ENUGU State command of the Nigeria Police Force has set up a special task force to fish out and impound vehicles with unauthorised siren and spy number plates in the state.
Police SP Ebere Amaraizu, Enugu State spokesman of the police command disclosed this in a release he issued recently, saying that the state Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Mohammed set up the task force to check the use of spy number plates, sirens and covered number plates in the state.
He said CP Danmallam mandated the police task force to fish out and impound vehicles with the unauthorised use of spy number plates, siren and covered number plates, pointing out that offenders will be prosecuted accordingly in line with relevant sections of the law to that effect.
‘’The command wishes to inform members of the public that one week grace with effect from March 26th, 2018 has been granted to those whose vehicle number plates are covered, unauthorised to use siren, to dismantle such and desist from further use as the task force will commence strict compliance of the mandate to enforce statutory duty of the command, impounding vehicles with unauthorised sirens and spy number plates and prosecute owners in the court of law” he said.
